Antelope Valley Union High School District Antelope Valley Union High School District 40th Annual High School Student Art Exhibition April 3, 2025 - May 18, 2025 MOAH:CEDAR and the Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) are proud to present the 40th annual Antelope Valley Union High School District (AVUHSD) Student Art Exhibition, taking place from Thursday, April 3, 2025, to Sunday, May 18, 2025. This highly anticipated exhibition provides a unique opportunity for high school students across the Antelope Valley to showcase their artistic talent in a professional gallery setting. The exhibition will officially open with an awards ceremony on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 6 PM in Cedar Hall. This special event will celebrate the creativity and dedication of young artists, recognizing outstanding works across various artistic disciplines. This year’s exhibition features approximately 180 selected works, including two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and multimedia pieces, chosen by representatives from the museum after reviewing student art portfolios. Participating schools include all eight district high schools within the Antelope Valley Union High School District. MOAH:CEDAR invites the community to visit and support these talented young artists as they take their first steps into the world of professional art. Uncovering Existence: Selections from the Museum's Permanent Collection February 15 - March 16, 2025 Uncovering Existence: Selections from the Museum’s Permanent Collection highlights selected works in the Lancaster Museum of Art and History’s (MOAH) permanent collection, showcasing a diverse range of artworks acquired by the museum over the past three decades. The exhibition presents work in a variety of artistic media and methods, ranging from abstract and representational painting, to photography, sculpture, and ceramic. Uncovering Existence features the work of 35 different artists at various stages of their artistic careers including: Abel Alejandre, Adrian Anguiano, April Bey, Perez Bros., Brooks Byrd, Lavialle Campbell, Doctor Eye, Lanise Howard, Suda House, Cynthia Ona Innis, Jorge A. Jimerez Jr., Christine Kline, Gary Lambert, Kevin Kowalski, B. Robert Moore, Mahtab Mohammadi, Sheila Pinkel, Elyse Pignolet, Melanie Walker, Samuelle Richardson, Melissa Reischman, Christopher Russell, Jim Seargeant, Katherine Stocking-Lopez, Jane Szabo, George Van Saake, Vyal Reyes, Amir Zaki, Manuel Zamudio, and Stevie Love, as well as, the 2024 All-Media Juried Exhibition winner Francis Robateau. The exhibition showcases the breadth of artists and pieces in MOAH’s permanent collection and addresses themes of memory, identity, and personal history. Through the works in the show, viewers can examine the vital role that the museum’s collection plays in preserving and interpreting cultural narratives in order to encourage dialogue about representation, inclusivity, and a deeper understanding of the human experience. By sharing diverse stories and perspectives, the museum remains relevant and engaged, ensuring that cultural heritage is honored and shared with future generations.

Thinkspace Projects Dream Feelers December 15, 2024 - February 2,2025 Opening Reception: Sunday, December 15, 2024 | 4 - 6PM Dream Feelers, curated by Thinkspace Projects , explores dreams and their transformation from idea to object. Using ceramic, the artists of Dream Feelers interpret their own dreams, molding clay to bring subconscious thoughts into reality. The exhibition considers the dream as sculptural representation examining the link between the visible and the invisible. The exhibiting artists harness this intangible, individual experience and bring their dreams into the shared physical realm. These ‘dream feelers’ help the viewer to envision what lies beyond our normal perception of reality. This exhibition features new work from: Natalia Arbelaez, Megan Barnes, Emily Yong Beck, Benjamin Cabral, Fl.our Pots, Hunter Harvey, Yasuhito Kawasaki, Haylie Jimenez, Sydnie Jimenez, Janiece Maddox, Janina Myronowa, Sachi Moskowitz, Jeffery Sun Young Park, Thomas Martinez Pilnik, Adam Shrewsbury, Amy Sol, Austyn Taylor, Chidi Ukwuoma. Andrew Hosner, co-founder and curator of Thinkspace, has been a pivotal figure in Los Angeles Street Art and New Contemporary Movement for nearly two decades, championing emerging and established artists globally. Established in 2005, Thinkspace has gained international acclaim as a leading force in the New Contemporary Art Movement, an ongoing artistic movement that showcases a diverse array of talent. Thinkspace has curated exhibitions at esteemed institutions such as the Urban Nation Museum in Berlin, the Long Beach Museum of Art, the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum, and the Museum of Art and History (MOAH) among others.

Nikolas Soren Goodich Luminous Mysteries Human Symmetries September 28 - November 24, 2024 MOAH:CEDAR and the Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) are pleased to announce Luminous Mysteries Human Symmetries , an exhibition by artist Nikolas Soren Goodich. Luminous Mysteries Human Symmetries will be on view at MOAH:CEDAR from Saturday, September 28th to Sunday, November 24th, 2024. The opening reception for the exhibition will take place on Saturday, September 28th from 4 - 6PM. MOAH:CEDAR’s newest exhibition, Luminous Mysteries Human Symmetries, showcases Goodich’s ability to transform his trauma, presenting viewers an opportunity to authentically connect and examine the idea of self and the imaged “other,” through the harmony and incongruence of images. His artistic practice explores the paradox of asymmetry and symmetry through monoprint profile portraits, and large scale installation, that allow for moments of quiet contemplation and close examination through its incandescent qualities . Nikolas Soren Goodich is a mixed-race Los Angeles native. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in the late 1980s, School of the Art Institution of Chicago in the late 90s and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking at VCUarts in 2019. He has worked as an art preparator for 25 years at some of the most prestigious galleries and museums on the east and west coasts, all focused on fostering curatorial diversity. He is currently represented by galleries in Los Angeles and The Hague, Netherlands, with works in private collections in the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union.

Through three diverse yet interconnected pieces, this exhibition delves into themes of self, representation, language and technology. 39th Annual All-Media Juried Art Exhibition Juried Art Exhibition June 1 - July 20, 2024 The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) and MOAH:CEDAR are excited to announce the 39th Annual All-Media Juried Art Exhibition for this year. Artists of all ages and experience levels from around the Antelope Valley and the 5th Supervisorial District of Los Angeles County can participate in the exhibition, submitting pieces of various art mediums. On Saturday, June 1 from 4PM to 6PM artists will be honored during an award ceremony were over $1,000 will be granted by the Lancaster Museum and Public Art Foundation and various small businesses, community organizations, public officials, and other sponsors. She embraces the innocence of her childhood drawings, bringing those creatures from the page into our third dimension. De Rosamel's interest in natural history is evident not only in her subject matter, but also in her process. She combines materials like clay, pigment, and sticks to create creatures that appear to come from a world adjacent to our own. In de Rosamel’s practice, she assumes the role of “Creator” by sculpting new species to populate her human-less utopia. In her world, politics, gender, and suffering do not exist. Instead, her charming, well-fed creatures roam freely through forests and sleep under trees. They reside in an idealized setting, where leisure and tranquility are at the forefront. Through her earthy color palette and each creature’s laissez faire demeanor, she maintains a softness and levity in her work. Her world is a utopia far from our own, and far from the devastating impacts of human activities on biodiversity on our planet. Godeleine de Rosamel is a French artist based in Los Angeles, California. Born in Lille, France, de Rosamel’s passion for art began early when she was just a child drawing animals and taking her first ceramics class at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. In 1986, she attended the Ecole de Recherche Graphique (ERG) in Brussels, Belgium, where she graduated with a Fine Arts degree and began a career as a children’s book illustrator. Her whimsical illustrations have been featured in a number of books in France and Belgium. In 2001, she moved to Los Angeles and continued her career as an illustrator for several years until ultimately switching gears and to focus on her ceramics practice.
